GET TO KNOW ME I’m Mai. Undergraduate student at Towson University studying Elementary Education/Special Education.Above are photos of exchange student friends I have made since my junior year of high school 2014.
I've met students who came from: Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Austria, Germany, Russia, Georgia, Philippians, Indonesia, India, Pakistan, Japan, Norway and Brazil. |
When it came to figuring out what I wanted to do with my life after high school and what to study, I ended up choosing teaching. My ultimate goal is to be happy, then help others, and travel as much as possible. Teaching became the answer to fulfill my goals as I started teaching swim lessons when I was 15 and truly loved it. Swimming was my first love and it was a great feeling to help others learn how to swim while developing their love for it. I chose the dual major of Elementary Ed/Special Ed because I was not sure what specifically wanted to teach (I wanted to teach high school because of the mentors I had, but did not know what to concentrate in), but I also wanted to be prepared to teach any type of student. Traveling would be achieved with teaching abroad! Growing up in a diverse community, I fell in love with the different aspects of life by learning about the various cultures, the languages, music, food, customs, and so on. In high school, I met several people who ended up becoming life long friends from other countries like Indonesia, Germany, India, Brazil, Russia, Georgia, and more; they inspired me to further my desire to go abroad and learn.
